R. Ted Butler

A native of the Fredericksburg area, Ted received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Old Dominion University in 1988, with a minor in Finance (Real Estate). He attended Mercer Law School in Macon, Georgia and received his law degree in 1991. Since 1991, Ted has practiced law in his home town of Fredericksburg. His primary areas of practice include Family Law, Criminal Law and general Civil Litigation.

Ted is admitted to practice law in both the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of Georgia. He is a member of the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association (where he formerly served as treasurer) and the 15th Judicial Circuit Bar Association. He is former Vice President of the Fredericksburg Fraternal Order Police Auxiliary Lodge, and former chairman of the Virginia State Bar’s Young Lawyer’s Disaster Relief Committee for the Fredericksburg area.

Ted’s reputation among other lawyers in Virginia resulted in him being recently named a member of the “Legal Elite” in Family/Domestic Relations by the Virginia Business Magazine.
